Table Insights
Extracted from rolling tables above.
Strongest
SD
Value
VALUE: The San Diego bullpen has been one of the better relief groups in baseball over the last week, allowing very few runs. They rank 4th in ERA over the last 7 days and 5th over the last 14, which shows this is not a one-game fluke. They are doing this against a tough schedule, which makes it even more impressive.
CHC
Value
VALUE: The Chicago Cubs bullpen has quietly been pitching really well lately, posting a solid ERA over the last week with a clean WHIP of 1.10. They rank 8th this week and are facing a tough schedule, so the results are earned. This is a group worth keeping an eye on as they move into a better stretch.
CWS
Fade
FADE: The Chicago White Sox bullpen has been among the worst in the league recently, ranking 26th this week and 27th over the last two weeks. They were much better a month ago, so this looks like a real drop-off rather than a small sample blip. The easy schedule they are facing makes these numbers harder to explain away.
TB
Fade
FADE: Tampa Bay's bullpen has fallen off a cliff lately after being one of the better groups a month ago. They ranked 8th over the last 28 days but have dropped to 25th this week, and the momentum is clearly pointing in the wrong direction. This is a sharp and sudden decline that is hard to ignore.
SF
Value
VALUE: The Giants starters have given up a lot of runs recently, but the numbers suggest they have been pitching better than the scoreboard shows. Their ERA sits at 6.34 this week, but their FIP of 4.04 tells a different story about the actual quality of pitching. This could be a situation where San Francisco starters bounce back soon.
PIT
Fade
FADE: Pittsburgh starters have struggled this week with a 5.80 ERA, and the numbers behind the scenes are not great either. Over the last month they were ranked 7th, so the recent drop to 18th suggests something has changed. This is not a group you want to count on right now.
ATH
Fade
FADE: The Athletics rotation has been the worst in baseball this week, ranking 30th in ERA over the last 7 days. What makes it worse is they are playing an easy schedule, so the poor results cannot be blamed on tough opponents. The walks and hits they are allowing suggest this rough stretch is real.
SD
Value
VALUE: San Diego starters have been trending in the right direction, moving from 23rd a month ago all the way up to 9th over the last two weeks. The rotation is getting better at a good time and doing it against tough competition. This is a group that looks like it has found its footing.
ATL
Fade
FADE: The Atlanta offense is not producing right now despite being ranked 3rd in batting over the last month. This week they have dropped to 16th, and their run total of 4.29 per game looks soft given the expectations for this lineup. The recent slide is worth watching before trusting Atlanta bats.
KC
Fade
FADE: Kansas City's offense has been the worst in baseball this week, ranking 30th and scoring just 2.14 runs per game. They are doing this against an easy schedule, which makes it even more concerning. There is very little to like about this lineup right now.
