Table Insights

Strongest
ARI Fade
FADE: The Arizona bullpen has put up decent numbers recently, but they are only converting 60 percent of their save chances, which is a real problem in close games. The recent ERA looks better than the underlying pitching quality suggests it should. Things could get messier out of the pen before they get cleaner.
KC Fade
FADE: The Royals bullpen has been the worst in baseball over the past week, posting a 9.78 ERA and ranking 30th overall. They have been walking too many batters and giving up hits at an alarming rate with a 2.12 WHIP. There is no reason to trust this group in close games right now.
SF Value
VALUE: The Giants bullpen has been one of the better relief groups in baseball over the past two weeks, and they have done it against a tough schedule. They are keeping runners off base and the strikeouts are there to back it up. This pen has been quietly reliable and deserves more credit than it is getting.
BOS Fade
FADE: The Red Sox bullpen has been one of the best in baseball over the past month, but the momentum has turned sharply negative recently. They jumped to 22nd in bullpen ERA this past week after sitting 4th or 5th over the last month. A short-term pullback from one of the hotter pens in baseball is worth paying attention to.
NYM Fade
FADE: The Mets rotation has been getting shelled lately, ranking 23rd in starter ERA over both the last week and last two weeks. Even with an easy schedule, their starters have a 6.04 ERA over the past seven days and have been allowing a lot of baserunners. This is not a group you want to trust right now.
ATL Fade
FADE: Atlanta's rotation has dropped off hard recently, ranking 27th in starter ERA over the last seven days after looking solid over the past month. The momentum is pointing in the wrong direction and the starters are not missing bats the way you would want. This is a group that looks like it is cooling off fast.
BOS Value
VALUE: The Boston rotation is worth watching closely right now. Their starters are ranked 6th in ERA over the last seven days, and the quality of contact they are allowing suggests the results could get even better. The momentum is trending up and they are pitching better than their season-long numbers indicate.
COL Value
VALUE: Colorado starters have been getting hit hard, but the recent momentum is quietly moving in a positive direction. They have been facing a tough schedule and the actual pitching quality has been better than the ERA shows. This is one to monitor if you are looking for a hidden bounce-back spot.
ATH Fade
FADE: The Athletics offense has been one of the least productive in baseball, scoring just 2.14 runs per game over the past week. Their lineup ranks near the bottom in overall production and they are not generating nearly enough offense to support their pitchers. This group is very hard to back right now.
ATL Fade
FADE: Atlanta's lineup has gone cold at the plate, ranking around the middle of the pack in scoring but sitting near the bottom in overall hitting quality with a 69 wRC+. The offense looked much better a month ago but has been sliding steadily. Combined with the rotation struggles, the Braves are pointing in the wrong direction right now.
